William's Tour of Richmond

The goal of this blog is twofold....

  1. To show off one of the beautiful parks in Richmond. I think all to often a person forgets to take advantage of the sights in their own city. Richmond is so full of history, we have a beautiful river which flows through the heart of downtown, and NUMEROUS parks throughout the city and surrounding counties (Henrico and Chesterfield) there is absolutely no reason to complain of nothing to do around here...you just have to search it out.
  2. To again show off my handsome nephew :)
It was a little bit of a chilly day last week, but no real rain in the forecast. So, we bundled up, packed a picnic and headed out to Maymont. You can read more about the park and the history here.

Can you see William peeking his head around to see where we are??

What is William looking at???

A Fox!!!

What is William pointing at???

Eagles and Owls!! These seemed to be injured animals that had been rescued.

There are even bears!!

As you can see, Maymont contains wildlife exhibits and even a nature center. Other parts include a historical house and beautiful gardens. First we walked through the Japanese gardens.

A perfect background for some nice photos!

Then we made our way towards the Italian Gardens.

William stopped to explore some dandelions along the way.

Blow William!!

The tulips were all in bloom!

This may be my all time favorite picture so far!!! What a darling!!!
